WESLEY'S FALL DANCE WORKSHOP: "The Body, Storytelling, and the Kingdom Come" with Chris Fitz on Saturday, November 15, will explore improvisational movement and theatre forms as tools for healing and community transformation. We will delve into several key forms that will help us tell our personal stories and explore our common stories grounded in methods primarily from Contact Improvisation and Playback Theatre. At the heart of this practice is a physical kind of exegesis, literally rolling our bodies into common sacred text to uncover new understandings of how the Spirit is speaking to us here and now. Participants will leave with specific techniques for generating material in dance, theatre, workshops and wild worship services. The workshop will be part practice, part therapy and part revolution - the act of embodying and sharing our sacred stories being nothing less than "the kingdom come!" Please pre-register by NOVEMBER 8, 2008. For information or to register, contact Kathryn Sparks at (202) 244-5280 or dancingsparks@yahoo.com. This event is co-sponsored by the Potomac Chapter of the Sacred Dance Guild and WTS.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: ENGLISH LANGUAGE PARTNER PROGRAM:
Current Wesley students and staff: Would you like to help a Wesley international student practice English conversation once per week? This program has already started but we still need a few more volunteers because we have so many international students/spouses who want to participate. Volunteer to be an English Language Partner to a current international student or spouse. You are asked for just a thirty minute time commitment per week for one semester. You will be matched with a current international student or international spouse who wishes to practice speaking English. You will not be teaching grammar or English language to the student. Rather, you will be engaging with the student in conversation on topics of mutual interest in an informal setting (such as over coffee in the Refectory) in order to give the student a chance to practice speaking and listening. I am happy to provide a list of conversation questions and topics to partners. If you are interested in learning more or applying for this volunteer opportunity please email Alice Davis, Director of International Student Services at adavis@wesleyseminary.edu.

A HUGE "THANK YOU" TO EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN DILIGENT IN OBSERVING THE YELLOW FIRE LANE "NO PARKING ZONE" A couple of weeks ago, the fire department paid us a visit when a fire alarm went off in the Kresge Building. They found the fire lanes in the entrance drive way completely clear! Should a circumstance arise and the fire trucks arrive to find cars parked in fire lanes, Wesley runs the risk of losing the privilege of parking anywhere on the driveways (and you thought parking was tight NOW!!!). So, many thanks for observing this policy...keep up the good work!
REMINDER! OUR DRIVEWAYS ARE ONE-WAY..... EVEN AT NIGHT AND ON WEEKENDS! Please remember to enter and exit our campus via the appropriate ONE WAY driveway. Although it is tempting to exit via our entrance driveway when there are no parked cars along the sides, the driveway is still one way and you are asked to not use it as an exit. Accidents have occurred when people have driven the wrong way, even on weekends when all seemed clear.
ONGOING / DID YOU KNOW...
PAYMENTS CAN BE MADE BY PHONE! You can pay your bill over the phone and all you need is the ID number on your billing statement (this number is also on your ID cards-- for returning students, the number is on the back of your cards, for new students, it is on the front of your cards). The number for this service is: 1-866-498-4011. Payments will be posted within 24 hours - one business day. Please note: this service will not give you an account balance.
STUDENTS: IF YOU HAVE I.T. PROBLEMS such as difficulty logging in to any online resource, inability to access your wireless network on campus, or need to report a problem concerning the computer labs, you need to submit an eSupport ticket. The website address for this resource is http://services.wesleyseminary.edu.
